Quantum Computing for Industry.

Quantum computing has the potential to move from industrial research to early real‑world deployment, as companies in energy, advanced materials and pharmaceuticals begin testing it on their most pressing challenges. For these sectors, the question is shifting from whether quantum solutions will matter to whether they are ready to use them when they do.

QUBIC is Ireland’s answer to that question. Funded by Enterprise Ireland’s Disruptive Technologies Innovation Fund with a grant of €13.7 million, QUBIC is a 36‑month project developing quantum‑first algorithms, scalable hardware and an integrated software stack, all built around the real challenges facing Irish industry today.

Where Quantum Meets Industry

QUBIC focuses its quantum computing research on areas with strong potential for impact and where national industry needs are most pressing.

Energy & Power Systems

From grid optimisation to renewable integration and demand forecasting, QUBIC’s quantum optimisation tools will explore new ways to manage complex power systems and support Ireland’s transition to a lowcarbon economy.

Advanced Materials

From alloy design to thermalfluid simulation, QUBIC’s quantum modelling tools explore new ways to study advanced materials and fluid systems with levels of detail that are difficult for classical computing to achieve today.

Pharmaceuticals

From molecular simulation to crystal structure prediction, QUBIC’s quantum chemistry tools explore novel ways to reduce the time and cost of bringing new medicines to market.
