The QUBIC project officially launched on 26 March 2026 in Dublin, marking the beginning of an ambitious 36-month journey to unlock the potential of quantum computing to the Irish industry.
The kick-off meeting brought together all consortium partners for the first time, setting the foundations for what promises to be one of Ireland's most significant deep-tech research initiatives to date.
The day was opened by Clare McKenna from Enterprise Ireland, who set the context for the DTIF funding programme and outlined expectations for the project ahead. Her opening remarks underlined the importance of QUBIC within Ireland's broader research and innovation landscape and the ambition that comes with it.
The agenda covered partner introductions, overviews of each Work Package, and a detailed discussion of the governance and advisory structures that will guide the project's progress, impact and innovation activities over the coming three years.
What Comes Next
With the project now formally underway, the QUBIC consortium will begin exploring quantum-enabled solutions across Ireland's most important challenge areas: energy systems, advanced materials and pharmaceutical innovation. Updates, research insights and partner news will be shared regularly here and across QUBIC's social media channels as the work develops.
