Strength in Collaboration

QUBIC is built on a simple conviction: that quantum computing will only deliver real-world impact when the people building the technology work side by side with the people who need it most.

That is why the QUBIC consortium was assembled as it is. Eight organisations. Complementary expertise across quantum hardware, software, algorithms, AI and three distinct industry sectors. A shared commitment to making quantum computing work for global industries, not in theory, but in practice.

Ireland's Quantum Research Consortium

The QUBIC consortium brings together:

A world-leading quantum hardware company as project co-ordinator.

Three Irish research and technology organisations providing academic depth and sector expertise.

Four innovative SMEs at the cutting edge of quantum algorithms, drug discovery and advanced materials.

A global technology leader providing commercialisation expertise and scalable computing infrastructure.

Together they form a leading quantum research consortium in Ireland, recognised for its strong industry alignment across Europe.

QUBIC - Quantum Utilisation for Breakthroughs in Ireland's Computing

Equal1 is a world‑leading quantum computing company and the co‑ordinating partner of QUBIC.

Equal1

The company develops silicon‑based quantum processors that integrate entire quantum systems onto a single chip, making quantum computing more scalable and accessible than previous approaches.

In 2025, Equal1 launched Bell‑1, its first commercial quantum computer, a plug‑and‑play system designed to operate within standard data centre environments without specialised cryogenic infrastructure, making quantum computing a practical proposition for organisations that previously could not consider it.

In 2026, Equal1 raised 60 million dollars in funding led by the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund and other international investors to accelerate deployment of Bell‑1 systems and scale its silicon‑based quantum computing roadmap. Equal1 brings a proven track record in national and European research programmes, strategic partnerships with Nvidia, Arm, Cadence, GlobalFoundries and others, and multiple prestigious industry awards including Arm's Silicon Startup Award and the Institute of Physics' Quantum Business Innovation and Growth prize.
